YBD3系列隔爆型変極多速三相異步電動機是在YB2系列上派生的全封閉自扇冷鼠籠式隔爆型三相異步電動機，該系列電動機采用改變繞組的接法來變換電機的極數(shù)和輸出功率，使之與機械設(shè)備的負(fù)載特性相匹配，簡化其變速系統(tǒng)，并可節(jié)省大量電能。電動機變速類型有:二速、三速、四速三種類型。二速接線盒內(nèi)有6個接線螺栓，三速接線盒內(nèi)有9個接線螺栓，四速接線盒內(nèi)有12個接線螺栓，供用戶變極變速使用。
YBD3系列隔爆型変極多速三相異步電動機的隔爆性能符合 GB3836.2-2000《爆炸性氣體環(huán)境用電氣設(shè)備 第2部分：隔爆型“d”》規(guī)定，制成ExdIIAT4 ExdIIBT4， 適用于工廠具有IIA、IIB級、溫度組別T1~T4組爆炸性氣體混合物存在的危險場所。
